Tiffany Callender: Bridging the Funding Gap for Black Entrepreneurs

Tiffany Callender, the CEO of The Federation of African Canadian Economics (FACE), is a dynamic force dedicated to uplifting the Canadian Black community through her 16-year career. Recognized as one of the 100 most influential individuals of African descent under 40, Tiffany has taken on the challenge of addressing the funding struggles faced by Black entrepreneurs. Leading FACE, she played a pivotal role in developing the Black Entrepreneurship Loan Fund with the Government of Canada. This initiative, offering loans up to $250,000, seeks to bridge the financial gap and support the success of Black entrepreneurs across Canada. Tiffany’s commitment to economic prosperity for Black Canadians is evident in FACE’s mission, making her insights invaluable as she discusses the challenges faced by Black entrepreneurs and the transformative impact of initiatives like the Black Entrepreneurship Loan Fund during the TBIF Conversation Series.

Geneviève Tanguay: Pioneering Women in Venture Capital

Geneviève Tanguay, the CEO of Anges Québec, stands as a trailblazer in the world of venture capital in Canada. With over 25 years of experience and a finance degree from HEC Montréal, Geneviève has played a central role in innovative transactions, notably contributing to the Life Sciences sector at Fonds de Solidarité. Beyond her professional achievements, Geneviève actively serves on the boards of several private companies and non-profit organizations, embodying her commitment to community development. Holding key positions in organizations such as the Mouvement des accélérateurs d’innovation du Québec (MAIN), Centech, SCALE AI, and the Jeune Chambre de commerce de Montréal (JCCM), she channels her expertise into shaping the future of venture capital. Geneviève’s dedication extends to mentoring at the Creative Destruction Lab (CDL), where she actively works towards opening new opportunities for women in venture capital and supporting the growth of innovative entrepreneurs shaping our society.
